Revision Total Hip Replacement – 60 Year old gentleman

60 years old gentleman had history of trauma right hip in 1999. He was managed elsewhere with multiple surgeries including total hip replacement and revision hip replacement. He presented to us with complaints of continuous pain right hip with shortening of the right leg and inability to bear weight in the affected leg. X-Ray showed loosening and migration of acetabular cup proximally and pelvic discontinuity. Revision surgery was done and acetabulum was reconstructed with special implants and bone graft. Patient was allowed to walk with walker next day after surgery.

Left total knee replacement- Bimca Agarwal

69 year lady had acute onset pain following fall at home and sustained fracture tibia. Patient had pre-existing severe valgus deformity in the knee since last 20 years and was ambulatory with cane. Left total knee replacement was done which required tibial stem and medial tibial locking plate to stabilize the fracture. Post operative patient is comfortable and ambulatory.

Valgus knee – Total knee replacement

Sixty year old lady had the history of trauma right knee in 1996 for which plating had been done in some hospital . In the post-operative period the plate got infected and later the plate had been removed. Since then patient had pain right knee on and off and limp. Now patient presented to our opd with long standing pain right knee and left knee pain also from 3 years. Patient had difficulty in walking and difficulty in doing her day to day activities. On examination patient had outward angulation of right knee (valgus) and inward angulation ( varus) of left knee joint. X ray showed large defect in proximal tibia lateral half on the right side. Patient was taken for surgery after proper planning and total knee replacement was done in both knees in the same sitting. Defect in tibia on the right side was managed with a metal wedge and a long stem. Patient was mobilised in the room on third post-operative day.

Bilateral Total Hip Replacement

19 years old gentleman presented to us with pain in both hips and difficulty in walking. He is a known case of Ankylosing spondylitis of both hips. On examination he had gross restriction of movements of both hips and was unable to walk without support.
He had undergone uncemented Total Hip Replacement for both hips (same stage). Now He is walking comfortably with the walker.

Revision Total Hip Replacement -Ashwani Arora

Mr. Ashwani Arora, 62  yrs old gentleman presented to us with complains of pain around Left hip with difficulty in walking. He is a operated case of bilateral Total Hip Replacement done elsewhere in 2008.

Now he has undergone revision Total hip replacement for Left hip for aseptic loosening. Intraoperatively components were found to be loose and there was defect in the native bone. Acetabulum reconstruction was  done using bone bank allograft and trabecular metal shell (Continuum cup) and femur was resconstructed using uncemented revision long femoral stem . Post operatively patient is comforatable and walking painfree.
